4 Reasons Writing a Blog is Not Easy

I love to write, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. When I write fiction, there are times I’ll be in the groove, and I can spend a couple of hours just merrily typing away. But sometimes, writing is much harder. I sit at the computer and stare at a blank white document. I start typing, delete everything, and type again.

And if writing is hard for me, a writer, I can only imagine what the experience is like for someone who doesn’t enjoy writing. Blogging is not easy, and I’m here to let you know that I acknowledge the reasons why. Let’s take a closer look at them.

It’s Hard to Know What to Write About

If you just open a blank document and try to decide what your topic is, it’s easy to get frustrated. No matter how passionate you are about what you do, there is an anxiety that creeps in when you stare at a blank, white page. It helps to sit down and make a list of topic ideas. You can also Google things important to your business and see what kinds of topics get traction.

There is Not Enough Time in the Day

You are busy running your own business. You wear a lot of hats, and one that you simply don’t have time for is “Blog Writer.” The truth is, you probably do have a few minutes here and there to carve out to focus on writing, but if your heart isn’t in it, the whole thing will be a struggle. It's the number one reason people tell me why they don't blog.

There’s No Desire to Put Pen to Paper

Maybe you just don’t want to. There are a lot of other things you could do with your time, both personally and professionally. You honestly don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. There will be plenty of other things that you have to do to keep your business goals in check, so writing might be at the bottom of your priority list.

You’re Not a Natural Writer

You just don’t communicate that way. You are a wiz on the phone. You can express yourself and share your thoughts and feelings one-on-one or even in big presentations. But when it’s just you and your thoughts, you clam up. That’s completely normal. Everyone has their own communication style, so if writing isn’t your forte, you don’t have to force it.

You don’t have to do it alone. Email me to learn moreabout blogging for your business.
